Our Mission

The National Alumnae Association of Spelman College (NAASC) is the official independent, non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization that supports Spelman College through financial gifts, student recruitment, sisterhood, community service, and recognition of Spelman women.

The Association provides, encourages and promotes growth and development of alumnae through leadership opportunities and partnership alliances. NAASC actively seeks to involve all former students and graduates in the fulfillment of its purpose.



History

The National Alumnae Association of Spelman College Los Angeles was founded March 3, 1955. Originally called “The Spelman Club of Los Angeles”, the group was started by a number of local alumnae who wanted to stay connected with the Spelman community.

Since its founding, NAASC Los Angeles has been dedicated to the mission of the national Alumnae Association.

NAASC-LA has provided scholarships to 180 students attending Spelman College.

Our Story

Throughout the years, alumnae and former students have created many ways to stay connected – some of which are: raising scholarship funds for local Spelman students, participating in college fairs and information sessions to encourage students to attend college, and volunteering in the community.

Year after year, exceptional Spelman alumnae and extraordinary community members are awarded sisters’ awards to raise scholarship funds to support freshman and current Spelman college students.
