Scholarship Recipients
I plan to change the world by creating more opportunities for those who were robbed of their own. I plan to encourage people all over the world through musical outreach to be creative and find healthy, artistic, and therapeutic outlets when faced with struggle.
Lila Gilliam
I plan to change the world by becoming and being a positive role model and leader in my community. By increasing and enhancing my knowledge and perceptions, I can take what I have gained and accomplished into bigger arenas and be a voice and guide for those still finding theirs.
KAE LYN NORWOOD
My plan is to diversify mainstream media, so that people of color, primarily children of color, see themselves more frequently and positively represented in the media.
Safia Smith
I plan to change the world by educating myself on the causes of issues that people of color face so that I am able to educate and help others and work towards a solution. I also plan to help by trying to make proper legal representation more accessible and affordable for people of color..
Sierra Boone
I want to work with disadvantaged, low-income communities, specifically youth, to give them the tools and resources that I was blessed with to excel academically and socially. I also want to help them dig deep to discover their own abilities to give them the support and confidence they need to move towards their goals.
Tylar Hodoh
The change I want to bring to the world is more equity and equality, as well as inclusion for all people. As times go on the world and become more progressive, we may not always hold the same beliefs, but I encourage accepting all as long, as it doesn’t harm yourself or others.
Laila Lacy
I plan to change the world by getting all people to see the beauty in black excellence. This will be displayed with a program I plan to create called ELEC (Early Law Education for Children). With this program I will shape young African American children to be the leaders and political members in our country.
Tazie Sutton
I plan to change the world by becoming a positive influence for little African American girls in our country.
Jazael Ellzey
I plan to get an Environmental Science degree and help America develop more sustainable technology.
